Speech
I salute all of you,
I would like to thank SARAJEVO TRIBUNE and Sabiha Hadzimuratovic for giving us the opportunity to speak in this ceremonious meeting.
"And there was the war. And there were murders, killing, raping, burning, massacring, pain, suffering, fear, fear.." Why? What for?
Because of corrupted ideologies, stereotypes, prejudices, unjustified fears, as well as lacks of respecting each other. And this respect is the base of every healthy relation between people, and the postulate of progressive ideas.
What did we get from this crazy conflict? Nothing good, except the possibility of not repeating the same mistake, and the hope that we can create better people, better society and better future, for all of us.
So, we have a chance that we shouldn't miss. This way is necessary, difficult, and painful for all of us, because we carry painful experiences and feelings that we just have to pull out from ourselves and from the darkness, and see them on daylight. We definitely shouldn't hide them, because they will accumulate and represent the reason and possibility for a new conflict. To explain whole this post-war situation in BiH, I will call it a trash dump that we have to get rid of to get a clean space for building new foundations. In this case, foundations are something that is common and in which all nations in BiH agree. This trash dump contains a number of problems, discordances that we have to get rid of, because we need a place for foundations. And we can solve this only by nonviolent communication, conversation, discussion, dialogue that will often be full of emotions, but this is the path that we have to pass no matter how painful it is, because it leads to a better and lighter future.
NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION includes the trust which is lost after the war, and it is necessary for friendly relationships between people.
How to return the trust that is lost? It is very difficult, very painful, but possible if we will, wish, and want to sacrifice ourselves.
Besides the trust, what is also important is SOLIDARITY. We have to unite with each other because of the war problems that we are facing to. Daily political manipulations sometimes don't let us realize how similar we are, but it should be something secondary, and this will help us realize that, for example, students from Sarajevo, Banja Luka, and Mostar, have the same problems that reflect in bad educational conditions, unemployment, corrupted professors, bad financial situation, curriculum that should be reformed urgently, etc.
This is also the case with retired people and workers in the both entities. And this population is majority, which means that we have a lot in common that we have to agree about, unite ourselves, and build the trust, by nonviolent communication, of course.
Therefore, let's try not to let these aims to remain empty words.
Thank you one more time.
